Write for Us

As part of our mission, The International Scholar encourages the development and sharing of new ideas and analyses from outside our staff. If you’re interested in writing for Global Analytico as a guest, send the Editorial Division of ITS a pitch for review & consideration for publishing.

If you’d like to write for Global Analytico on a regular basis as a Staff Writer, you must first publish with us as a guest. After your article is accepted and published, submit your application to our HR team [see our Opportunities page].

Guidelines:

  • All guest submissions must conform to the ITS Style Guide: Guest Edition (provided below and on our Resources page).

    • Minor deviations from the style guide will not disqualify articles from consideration. Major deviations (such as breaking the word count limits, lack of or improper citations, or failure to submit the article in the correct file format) will disqualify the article from consideration.

Quick Facts:

  • Qualifications:

    • Topic: Your article must focus on some aspect of international affairs, defense, security, economics, governance, public policy, politics, cybersecurity/technology, anthropology, sociology or another related field. We will not publish work that adopts a main topic outside of these or closely related fields.

    • Language: Your article must be submitted in English; at this time, we do not support editing in other languages.

    • Word Limit: Your article must be no shorter than 1,500 words and no longer than 2,500 words.

    • Format: Your article must be submitted as a Word document. We will not accept PDFs, Pages docs, Google Docs, or other formats.

  • Global Analytico (GA) uses the Chicago Manual of Style as the basis for its writing and citation criteria.

  • As a digital publication, GA uses in-text hyperlinks to acknowledge sources. We will not accept articles that do not cite their references. Sources should be credible periodicals, magazines, journals, newspapers, and other like sources.

  • Plagiarism will not be tolerated. All submissions will be screened for plagiarized material, ideas, and other work. Any piece found taking credit for someone else’s work will be removed.

  • Please submit your article to only one publication. We will not publish articles previously published or to be published by another source (except in cases of cooperative cross-publication with other organizations.)

  • Please note that The International Scholar does not financially compensate writers for their submitted work at this time.

  • See the Style Guide for additional requisite and suggested guidelines for formatting and submission details.

If the Editorial Team approves your pitch, you will receive a reply email from an editor with comments and further directions to write and publish your article. The Editorial Team will seldom accept articles that have not gone through a pitch phase.

ITS adheres to a rigorous editorial process to publish high quality work; your article may pass through a few rounds of edits before its publication. The Editorial Division will work with writers as appropriate to prioritize and/or fast-track more time-sensitive articles.
