Cameron Vaské

Founder & Editor-in-Chief

Cameron Vaské founded The International Scholar on January 3, 2017, and has served as the Editor-in-Chief, General Manager, Website Developer, Recruitment Officer, Brand Developer, Social Media Manager, and Outreach Officer since. Cameron is also a Senior Editor and Writer at Global Security Review, the Progressive Column Lead Editor at Porter Medium, and a Non-Resident Research Intern at the Hudson Institute. He holds Bachelor’s Degrees in International Studies and Economics, with concentrations in Peace, Conflict, & Diplomacy, International Development, and Western Europe from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, where he received Cum Laude Honors, Scholar Leaders Honors, and University Honors with Distinction. He also spent a year studying International Relations, Law, and Economics at La Universidad Alfonso X el Sabio in Madrid, Spain. He is also member of The Phi Beta Kappa (ΦΒΚ) National Honors Society, The Sigma Iota Rho (ΣΙΡ) International Studies Honors Society, and Young Professionals in Foreign Policy. Cameron speaks English, Spanish, French, and Mandarin.

Anna J. Davidson

Senior Editor, Russia & Eastern Europe

Anna J. Davidson serves as the Senior Editor for The International Scholar’s Russia and Eastern Europe division of the Wider Europe Programme. As a consultant, Anna has successfully provided strategic and operational support to diverse clients in the United States and Europe for proficiency in foreign defense structures and security development in the former Soviet space. Anna has also conducted field research in Eastern Europe and authors analyses on security issues, conflict, and strategy with Global Security Review, Foreign Policy Research Institute's Bear Market Brief Russia, and the Journal of Political Risk. Anna read international relations, international conflict and organization, and advanced Russian language at Oxford University's Keble College, and she is affiliated with the Russian and East European Studies Programme at St. Antony's College, Oxford. She is also a summa cum laude graduate in international relations and Russian at the School of Public and International Affairs, University of Georgia in the United States. Anna speaks English and Russian.

Pranav Jain

Senior Editor, South Asia

Pranav Jain serves as the Senior Editor for The International Scholar’s South Asia division of the Asia Programme. Pranav served as a Programme Assistant for The Economist in Gurgaon (New Delhi), India for two years, and previously at Vecta Strategy and Mashreq Bank as a Research Intern. Pranav holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Foreign Affairs from the University of Virginia and is currently pursuing his Master’s Degree in International Business at Tufts University in The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy. Pranav speaks English and Hindi.

Liam Kraft

Senior Editor, Central & Eastern Asia

Liam Kraft serves as the Senior Editor for The International Scholar’s Central and Eastern Asia division of the Asia Programme. Liam is currently a Strategic Engagement Coordinator at Concordia where he previously served as an Intern to the Office of the CEO / Strategic Engagement. Liam also previously served as a Research Intern for the Center of Political-Military Analysis at the Hudson Institute, as a Development and Outreach Intern for the America Initiatives Project at Human Rights Watch, and as a Staff Writer and Interviewer for the Virginia Review of Politics. Liam holds Bachelor’s Degrees in Foreign Affairs and International Economics from the University of Virginia, where he was honored as a Graduate with Distinction, was inducted into the Distinguished Majors Program of the Woodrow Wilson Department of Politics, and served multiple roles — including as President — for The International Relations Organization of UVa. Liam also spent time studying International Relations and Comparative Politics at the University of Oxford.

Pascal LeTendre-Hanns

Senior Editor, Western & Central Europe

Pascal LeTendre-Hanns serves as the Senior Editor for The International Scholar’s Western & Central Europe division of the Wider Europe Programme. Pascal is currently an Executive at Hanbury Strategy. He previously served as an Intern at EuropaNova in Paris, France where he performed research on Brexit and European Affairs. Pascal holds a Bachelor’s Degree in European Social and Political Studies from the University College London where he served as an elected External Accommodation Officer for the Student Union. Pascal speaks English and French.

Joshua Stowell

Senior Editor, Security & Defense

Joshua Stowell serves as the Senior Editor for The International Scholar’s Security & Defense Programme. Joshua is currently a Director of Marketing at Codio and previously served as a Communications Specialist at LogicManager, the Digital Strategy Manager at Belvoir Media Group, and as Content Manager for Bottom Line Inc. Joshua is also the Founder & Editor-in-Chief of Global Security Review, a highly acclaimed Defense, Security, and Foreign Policy outlet. Joshua holds a Master’s Degree in International Relations from the University of St. Andrews. Joshua is a member of Young Professionals in Foreign Policy.

Emily Tatum

Senior Editor, Latin America

Emily Tatum serves as the Senior Editor for The International Scholar’s Latin America Programme. Emily is also a Contributor to Global Security Review and has previously served as a Virtual Foreign Service E-Intern for the U.S. Department of State Consulate in Guayaquil, Ecuador, as a Public Affairs Intern for the U.S. Department of State Embassy in Quito, Ecuador, and as a Western Hemisphere Affairs Intern for the Office of the Secretary of Defense for the U.S. Department of Defense. Emily holds Bachelor’s Degrees in Political Science, Latin American Studies, and International Studies with a concentration in Latin America from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, where she earned Summa Cum Laude Honors, International Studies Graduate with Distinction, Scholar Leaders Honors, and University Honors with Distinction. Emily is also a member of The Sigma Iota Rho (ΣΙΡ) International Studies Honors Society. Emily speaks English and Spanish.

Megan Zimmerer

Senior Editor, Middle East & North Africa

Megan Zimmerer serves as the Senior Editor for The International Scholar’s Middle East & North Africa Programme. Megan is currently an Investigator at The Kreller Group, previously served as an independent ESL Tutor, has served in numerous volunteer roles. Megan holds Bachelor’s Degrees in French, Arabic, and International Studies with a concentration in Middle Eastern Studies from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, where she received Cum Laude Honors, Academic Scholar Honors, and University Honors with Distinction. She also lead the Miami University Model Arab League, Muslim Student Association, and served as a Journalist and French Translator. Megan is a member of The Sigma Iota Rho (ΣΙΡ) International Studies Honors Society and speaks English, French, and Arabic.

Scott Chipolina

Editor, Cybersecurity

Scott Chipolina serves as the Editor for The International Scholar’s Cybersecurity Project. Scott served as a Regulatory Officer for the Gibraltar Financial Services Commission for over a year, and previously as a Legal Assistant for the ISOLAS LLC International Law Firm in Gibraltar, and as an Intern at Banque Lombard Odier & CIE SA and Hughes Hubbard & Reed LLP. Scott holds a Master’s Degree in International Relations with a concentration Middle Eastern Studies from Durham University where he received 1st Class Honors, a Bachelor’s Degree in Philosophy and Politics from the University of York where he received Upper 2:1 Class Distinction, and a Certificate in Terrorism Studies from the University of St. Andrews. Scott speaks English and Llanito Spanish.

Alba Bonilla Carabaño is an International Scholar with a focus on European Affairs, Cybersecurity, and National Security. Alba served as a Cybersecurity Intelligence Trainee at Cipher in Madrid, Spain, and previously as a Project Managing Student Fellow at the Foundation for Hope and Joy, as a Second Phase Integration Volunteer at Accem, and as a Student Fellow at CESEDEN-IEEE. Alba is currently pursuing a Master’s Degree Intelligence Analysis and Security Studies at La Universidad Autónoma de Madrid and holds Bachelor’s Degrees in International Relations with a concentration in Social Sciences and Modern Languages and Management with a concentration in Applied Languages from La Universidad Alfonso X el Sabio in Madrid, Spain. She also spent time studying International Relations, Social Sciences, and Economics in the Universität zu Köln in Cologne, Germany and the Universität des Saarlandes in Saarbrücken, Germany. Alba speaks Spanish, English, French, and German.

Sebastiano Angeli

International Scholar, Europe, Defense, and National Security

Sebastiano Angeli is an International Scholar with a focus on European Affairs, Defense, and National Security. Sebastiano is currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in Crisis and Security Management at the Universiteit Leiden in Leiden, The Netherlands and hold a Bachelor’s Degree in International Studies from the Università degli Studi di Trento in Trento, Italy. Sebastiano also spent time studying International Relations, Law, and Economics at La Universidad Alfonso X el Sabio in Madrid, Spain. Sebastiano speaks Italian, Spanish, and English.

International Scholar, Britain and European Politics

Gregor Catto is an International Scholar with a focus on Britain, Brexit, and European Politics. Gregor is currently a Legislative Fellow to the Office of Congressman Robert Aderholt (AL-4) at the United States House of Representatives. He has also served as a Parliamentary Office Manager (formerly Office Researcher) to John Glen MP in the United Kingdom’s House of Commons, as a Debate Tutor in Debate Mate, and as an Equities Research Summer Intern for J.P. Morgan. Gregor holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Theology from Kings College London where he received 1st Class Honors. Gregor also spent time studying Theology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Gregor is a member of Young Professionals in Foreign Policy.

Mary Margaret Criddle

International Scholar, Middle East & North Africa, Israel, and U.S. Foreign Policy

Mary Margaret Criddle is an International Scholar with a focus on the Middle East and North Africa, Israeli Affairs, and U.S. Foreign Policy. Mary is currently a Project Assistant at the American Jewish Committee and previously served as an Intern for Sister Cities International. Mary holds Bachelor’s Degrees in Arabic and International Studies with a concentration in Middle Eastern Studies from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, where she received Cum Laude Honors and University Honors. She also spent time studying International Relations at L’Institut Américain Universitaire in Aix En Provence, France, Chilean History and Dialectology at La Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso in Valparaíso, Chile, and Spanish Language & Literature and Arabic in La Universidad de Sevilla in Sevilla, Spain. Mary is a member of The Sigma Iota Rho (ΣΙΡ) International Studies Honors Society and Alexander Hamilton Society. Mary speaks English, Spanish, Arabic, and Hebrew.

Iáson Deegan

International Scholar, Europe and Human Rights

Iáson “Jason” Deegan is an International Scholar with a focus on European, Irish, & British Affairs and Human Rights. Jason is currently a Marketing Officer for Co-Operative Housing Ireland and the International President and Founder of Anti-Corruption International. Jason previously served in numerous marketing officer roles, as Ambassador for Ireland at the European Student Think Tank, as the Chairperson for the Dublin Institute of Technology Chapter of Amnesty International Ireland, and as a Labour Youth Campaigns Officer for the Irish Labour Party. Jason is currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in Public Policy from University College Dublin in Dublin, Ireland and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing from the Technological University Dublin in Dublin, Ireland where he received 2:1 Honors. Jason speaks English, Irish, and Norwegian.

Alexander “Alex” DeLuna is an International Scholar with a focus on Middle Eastern & Northern African Affairs and U.S. Foreign Policy. Alex is currently at Up for Growth National Coalition. He previously served as Executive Assistant Office Manager at the Middle East Policy Council, Office Assistant at The HALO Trust, and Grant Coordinator at the Sentinels of Freedom Scholarship Foundation. Alex holds Master’s Degrees in International Affairs and Middle Eastern & North African Governance and Democracy from American University in Washington, D.C. and a Bachelor’s Degree in History from Roanoke College in Roanoke, Virginia. Alex is a member of The Phi Beta Kappa (ΦΒΚ) National Honors Society, The Phi Alpha Theta History Honors Society, and Young Professionals in Foreign Policy. Alex speaks English, Arabic, and Spanish.

Sara Fay is an International Scholar with a focus on European and American Affairs and U.S. Foreign Policy. Sara is currently pursuing a four-year Master’s Degree in International Relations at the University of St. Andrews where she serves as the U.K. Director of The Lafayette Club, Deputy Editor of The Stand, Secretary General of the St. Andrews Chapter of Model United Nations, Analyst and Editor of the St. Andrews Foreign Policy Review, Creative Coordinator of Concrete Catwalk St. Andrews, and an Ambassador for the university’s Admissions Department. Sara is also a published novelist of “Searchlight for Young Adults” (2015). Sara speaks English, French, and Spanish.

Gabriella Gricius

International Scholar, Russia, Eastern Europe, and Human Rights

Gabriella Gricius is an International Scholar with a focus on Russian & Eastern European Affairs and Human Rights. Gabriella is currently a Teacher at the International Law Clinic at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (VU Amsterdam), a Senior Research Associate (Development) at the Public International Law & Policy Group in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, a Staff Writer at Global Security Review, the Chief Content Officer at yoganect, and the Operational Manager and Co-Founder of “Sub-Stances, Podcasts and Website.” Gabriella previously served as the Junior Advisor in USA and Australian Affairs to the Occidental Studies Institute, as an Assistant Analyst at The Hague Centre for Strategic Studies, as an Investigations and Analysis Intern at the International Criminal Court, and in numerous other roles at prestigious institutions and organizations. Gabriella holds a Master’s Degree in International Security from the University of Groningen in Groningen, Netherlands, where she received Cum Laude Honors, Bachelor’s Degrees in International Relations and German Language and Literature from Boston University in Boston, Massachusetts, and a Certificate of Journalism from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. Gabriella speaks English, French, German, and Russian.

Joon Young Kwon

International Scholar, East Asia

Joon Young Kwon is an International Scholar with a focus on South Korean, Japanese, and Chinese Affairs in the East Asian context. Joon is currently an Economic and Financial Consultant at FTI Consulting in Singapore. He previously served as a Summer Analyst to Macro Advisory Partners, as a Graduate Research Assistant in the Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies at Johns Hopkins University, as a Part-Time Japanese Politics Analyst Intern at the Eurasia Group, and in two other macroeconomics analyst positions. Joon holds a Master’s Degree in International Economics and Finance from Johns Hopkins University in Washington, D.C. and Bachelor’s Degrees in Political Science and Economics from the Korea University in Seoul. Joon also spent time studying Economics at the Tsinghua University in Beijing, China, and Journalism at Northwestern University in Chicago, Illinois. Joon speaks Korean, Chinese, Japanese, and English.

Niko Marcich

International Scholar, Latin America & China

Niko Marcich is an International Scholar with a focus on Latin American & Chinese Affairs and U.S. Foreign Policy. Niko is currently a Fullbright English Teaching Assistant with the Fullbright Commission in Peru. He previously served as a Data Operations Assistant at Flexport, as a Government Relations Intern with the Software & Information Industry Association, and as a Research and Development Intern with El Club Atlético de Madrid in Madrid, Spain. Niko holds Bachelor’s Degrees in International Economics and Foreign Affairs from the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Virginia where he Founder, Editor-in-Chief, and Host of the Global Inquirer’s periodical and podcast, as a Senior Editor of the Wilson Journal of International Affairs, and as an ESL Teaching Assistant. Niko also spent time studying Economics and Political Science at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile in Valparaíso, Chile. Niko speaks English and Spanish.

Sarah Martin is an International Scholar with a focus on Russian & Eastern European Affairs, the Caucuses, and U.S. Foreign Policy. Sarah is currently a Research Assistant for the Organization for Security and Co-Operation in Europe (OSCE) in Vienna, Austria. She previously served as Social Media Strategist for Young Professionals in Foreign Policy, an Intern for the U.S. Commission on Security and Cooperation in Europe, a Research Assistant Intern for the American Foreign Policy Council, and an Intern for the “Profiles of Individuals Radicalized in the United States” (PIRUS) project for the National Consortium for the Study of Terrorism and Responses to Terrorism (START). Sarah holds a Master’s Degree in Conflict Analysis and Resolution from George Mason University in Arlington, Virginia and Bachelor’s Degrees in Business Administration & Management and Russian Culture & Language from the Kogod School of International Affairs at American University in Washington, D.C. Sarah also spent time studying War Studies at Kings College London and Russian Language at the Middlebury College in Middlebury, Connecticut. Sarah speaks English and Russian.

Chris Mullaney

International Scholar, Middle East & North Africa and U.S. Foreign Policy

Chris Mullaney is an International Scholar with a focus on Middle Eastern & Northern African Affairs and U.S. Foreign Policy. Chris is currently an Immigration Assistant at Berry Appleman & Leiden LLP. He previously served as a Cultural and Professional Exchanges Intern for the Middle East Institute, as a Research and Grant Writing Intern for the United Palestinian Appeal, Inc., as a Spring Intern for The United States Agency for International Development (USAID), and as an Undergraduate Intern for Contra Costa County Public Defender's Office. Chris holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science and Government from the University of California, Berkeley and speaks English, Arabic, and Farsi.

Anna Semler

International Scholar, Russian & Eastern European Affairs and National Security

Anna Semler is an International Scholar with a focus on Russian & Eastern European Affairs and National Security. She has served as a U.S. Foreign Policy Intern at the Council on Foreign Relations, as an Intern researching Russia and Eastern Europe at the Hudson Institute, and as a U.S. - Russia Relations Intern at The American Security Project. Anna holds Bachelor’s Degrees in Government and History from Cornell University in Ithaca, New York. Anna speaks English and Russian.

Daniel Odin Shaw

International Scholar, Substate Conflict, Populism, and Extremism

Daniel Odin Shaw is an International Scholar with a focus on Substate Conflict, Populism, and Extremism. He has served as an English Teacher at Nessie’s English Centre, Fortune Kindergarten, and Kid Castle Education Corporation; as a Policy and Research Graduate at the Renfrewshire Council; and as a Summer Intern Project Assistant at the Scottish Drugs Forum in Glasgow, Scotland. Daniel is currently pursuing his Ph.D. in Substate Conflict at the University of Glasgow in Glasgow, Scotland, holds a Master’s Degrees in Political Science from the Central European University in Budapest, Hungary and in Social Science and Politics from the University of Glasgow, where he received 1st Class Honors. Daniel speaks English and Spanish.

William “Will” Truban is an International Scholar with a focus on U.S. Foreign Policy, Politics, and Law. Will previously served as a Telecommuting Intern at the Hudson Institute and as an Intern for the UIP-Albemarle County Office of Emergency Planning. Will is currently pursuing is Law Degree, and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Policy from the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Virginia, where he received Honors with Distinction and served as the Undersecretary General of Staff for UVa Model United Nations.
